Ravens' inside slant against Chargers

Aaron Wilson gives us his insight on the keys to this Sunday's Ravens - Chargers matchup

When the Ravens have the football

Watch swaggering running back Jamal Lewis and his massive offensive line attempt to duplicate last week's historical feat by pounding the football against the No. 29 rushing defense in the league. There won't be much trickery, but obviously offensive coordinator Matt Cavanaugh will try to establish a semblance of a passing game. Rookie quarterback Kyle Boller will have numerous opportunities to try to locate his receivers downfield in one-on-one matchups against a young Chargers secondary. Tight end Todd Heap should be his favorite target.

Key matchup

RB Jamal Lewis vs. MLB Zeke Moreno

Lewis is the physical prototype. Moreno gets by on guts and savvy. Something has to give.

When the Chargers have the football

It's the LaDainian Tomlinson show, and the runner is annoyed at Jamal Lewis' remarks. Lewis said it's not even a matchup between the NFL's second-leading rusher from last year and the Ravens' defense. With the Chargers' receiving corps decimated by injuries, a snippy Tomlinson will get every chance to respond to those comments this afternoon in San Diego.

Key matchup

FB Lorenzo Neal vs. LB Ed Hartwell

Ray Lewis is the designated cleanup hitter. It's Hartwell's job to set Lewis up as he battles one of the fiercest, intimidating lead blockers in football on isolation plays.
