Byner likely to rejoin the Redskins

OWINGS MILLS -- Ravens assistant running backs coach and director of player development Earnest Byner is expected to join Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs' staff as running backs coach. No announcement has been made, but a published report has linked Byner to the Redskins. Byner told the Carroll County Times last week that he was still weighing his options. Byner is a charter member of the Ravens' Ring of Honor who played for Gibbs before closing his career with two seasons in Baltimore.

Byner, 41, starred for Art Modell's Cleveland Browns teams, working in tandem with Kevin Mack.

In Baltimore, he helped players obtain internships and encouraged them to complete their degree requirements while assisting running backs coach Matt Simon.

Byner is a popular figure in Baltimore with a weekly radio program on WJFK in addition to his affiliation with Byners'Insiders.
