4 Zach Norton

Resume: Three-year starter had 155 career tackles and nine interceptions and was named second-team All-Conference USA as a senior. 
Outlook: Underwent shoulder surgery this summer for chronic dislocation problem, hurting his chances.

20 Ed Reed

Year: 3

Acquired: First round, 2002
Resume: Aggressive ballhawk was named to first Pro Bowl after tying team record with seven interceptions for a total of a dozen in two seasons. Posted 70 tackles, a forced fumble and a sack. Intercepted a Steve McNair pass in playoff loss to Tennessee. Returned two blocked punts for touchdowns and is tied with Tom Flynn for the all-time lead in that category since the AFL-NFL merger.
Outlook: Instinctive athlete has propelled himself into the elite category with diligent film study, gambling style.

21 Chris McAlister

Acquired: First round, 1999
Resume: Designated as franchise player for the second consecutive year, McAlister was named to his first Pro Bowl. Overcame off-field issues to intercept three passes while shutting down Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson, Torry Holt, Rod Smith and Plaxico Burress during second half of the season. Set NFL mark for longest play two years ago with a 107-yard return of a missed field goal against the Denver Broncos. Slated to make $7.1 million this season.
Outlook: A physical tackler who thrives in press coverage, McAlister showed signs of maturation last season. Will his unresolved contract situation become a distraction?

22 Dale Carter
Ht: 6-1 Wt: 204 Age: 34

Acquired: Free agent, 2004
Resume: Four-time Pro Bowl selection with the Kansas City Chiefs who hasn't been an all-star since 1997, Carter has bounced around the league with the Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints. Five-time violator of NFL substance-abuse policy was inked to a one-year contract for the veteran minimum of $760,000. Ended last season on injured reserve and is recovering from a quadriceps injury. Has 24 career interceptions and 106 pass deflections.
Outlook: Likely to be the Ravens' nickel back if he can remain healthy and incident-free.

24 Sam Massey
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 205 Age: 23
Year: Rookie
College: Morgan State
Acquired: Free agent, 2004
Resume: Played in the Hula Bowl and Gridiron Classic all-star games after starring at Division I-AA level. 
Outlook: Struggled to stay with receivers during minicamp drills.

26 Corey Fuller
Ht: 5-10 Wt: 220 Age: 33
Year: 10
College: Florida State
Acquired: Free agent, 2003
Resume: Leg injuries limited him last season to 34 tackles and no interceptions. Has 572 career tackles, 17 interceptions and 11 forced fumbles during stints with the Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings. Deflected a pass in playoff loss to the Titans. Drafted in the second round in 1995 by the Vikings, Fuller has an Aug. 23 court date for felony gambling and firearm charges.
Outlook: Stocky defensive back is shifting over to safety, a position he hasn't played since the expansion Browns' inaugural season in 1999.

27 Gerome Sapp
Ht: 6-1 Wt: 216 Age: 23
Year: 2
College: Notre Dame
Acquired: Sixth round, 2003
Resume: Alert in kick coverage, Sapp recovered a fumbled punt against the St. Louis Rams. Had two special-teams tackles against the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers.
Outlook: Promising special-teams standout will receive an audition at safety and possible work in dime packages.

28 Gary Baxter
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 204 Age: 25
Year: 4
College: Baylor
Acquired: Second round, 2001
Resume: Began the season at free safety before taking over at cornerback and registering 83 tackles, three sacks and 12 pass deflections. Intercepted a pass to end the game against the San Diego Chargers and had nine tackles against the Cleveland Browns. Played through an abdominal hernia that required off-season surgery.
Outlook: Baxter was disappointed when he didn't make the Pro Bowl last season, and has set his sights on being invited to Hawaii this winter.

35 Dave Revill
Ht: 5-11 Wt: 203 Age: 23
Year: Rookie
College: Utah
Acquired: Free agent, 2004
Resume: Former walk-on earned a scholarship and started for two years at strong safety for the Utes. Registered 211 tackles, 20 for losses and three interceptions. Twice named second-team all-conference. 
Outlook: Aggressive player will have to make more plays on the football to make roster.

37 Lance Frazier
Ht: 5-10 Wt: 183 Age: 23
Year: Rookie
College: West Virginia 
Acquired: Free agent, 2004
Resume: Three-year starter with 192 career tackles, eight interceptions and eight forced fumbles for Mountaineers.
Outlook: Quick corner prospect is an accomplished tackler.

38 Raymond Walls
Ht: 5-10 Wt: 188 Age: 25

College: Southern Miss
Acquired: Free agent, 2003
Resume: Former Cleveland Brown had four tackles and two pass deflections last season, appearing in 10 games as a reserve cornerback.
Outlook: Swift defensive back needs to increase knowledge of defensive system.

42 Marcell Allmond
Ht: 6-0 Wt: 209 Age: 23
Year: Rookie
College: USC
Acquired: Free agent, 2004
Resume: Started at cornerback for two seasons for the co-national champions, intercepting four career passes with 86 career tackles and 10 pass deflections. Caught 16 passes as a starting flanker as a sophomore before breaking his leg. 
Outlook: Coaching staff encouraged by his potential, size.

47 Will Demps
Ht: 6-0 Wt: 205 Age: 24
Year: 3
College: San Diego State
Acquired: Free agent, 2002
Resume: Incumbent free safety intercepted two passes, forced a fumble and had 39 tackles last season. In playoff loss to Tennessee, Demps was credited with eight tackles and returned an interception 56 yards for a touchdown and a franchise record. Earned a starting spot as a rookie, intercepting a pass with 49 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.
Outlook: A smart player, Demps lacks ideal speed, height for the position and will face competition in training camp.

49 Chad Williams
Ht: 5-9 Wt: 207 Age: 25
Year: 3
College: Southern Miss
Acquired: Sixth round, 2002
Resume: Had 24 tackles, returned an interception for a touchdown and forced two fumbles with one sack last season. Intercepted three passes as a rookie, returning one 98 yards for a score.
Outlook: Stocky, hard-hitting dime back figures into the mix at safety.
