Outlook: Contender for kick coverage responsibilities.

50 John Garrett

Year: Rookie

College: Baylor

Acquired: Free agent, 2004

Resume: Recorded 10 sacks as a senior, second-most in a single season in history of Baylor, alma mater of Ravens linebackers coach Mike Singletary.

Outlook: Former teammate of Ravens cornerback Gary Baxter will need to establish himself on special teams.

51 Brandon Barnes

Ht: 6-2 Wt: 235 Age: 23

Year: Rookie

College: Missouri

Acquired: Free agent, 2004

Resume: Tallied 103 tackles, 10 tackles for losses, a sack and two interceptions as a senior.

Outlook: Must garner notice on special teams, as he's one of many trying to crack an exclusive linebacker corps.

52 Ray Lewis

Year: 9

College: Miami

Acquired: First round, 1996

Resume: Reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year and former Super Bowl MVP is a six-time Pro Bowl selection. Last season, Lewis intercepted a career-high six passes. Team captain has 1,102 career tackles with 21 sacks and 20 interceptions.

Outlook: Regarded as one of the most dominant forces in football, Lewis seems to be improving with age. Recovering from thumb ligament surgery after undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery two seasons ago.

53 T.J. Slaughter

Year: 5

College: Southern Miss

Acquired: Free agent, 2003

Resume: Veteran signed last season after he was cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars and Green Bay Packers. Former starter had 19 tackles and a forced fumble last season with career totals of 186 tackles, two sacks and four forced fumbles.

Outlook: Relegated to special-teams role, but is capable of starting if an injury occurs.

54 Roderick Green

Ht: 6-2 Wt: 245 Age: 22

Year: Rookie

College: Central Missouri

Acquired: Fifth round, 2004

Resume: Division II All-American had 114 tackles, 13 sacks, three fumble recoveries and four forced fumbles with 39 tackles for losses in two seasons after transferring from junior college.

Outlook: Athletic, strong prospect is slated for special-teams, reserve linebacker duty.

55 Terrell Suggs

Ht: 6-3 Wt: 260 Age: 21

Year: 2

College: Arizona State

Acquired: First round, 2003

Resume: NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year led all rookies and Ravens with a dozen sacks last season to set a team record for first-year players. Only started once, but led team with six forced fumbles and intercepted a pass. Set NCAA mark with 24 sacks as a junior en route to All-American honors and Lombardi Award. Has a Sept. 9 court date for felony aggravated assault charges.

Outlook: Finally in optimum condition after reporting out of shape last season and stands poised to become a full-time starter and an every-down linebacker.

56 Edgerton Hartwell

Ht: 6-1 Wt: 250 Age: 26

Year: 4

College: Western Illinois

Acquired: Fourth round, 2001

Resume: Finished last season with 94 tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble and an interception. In two seasons, has six sacks and three forced fumbles.

Outlook: Physical, instinctive linebacker didn't break stride last year upon Ray Lewis' return from an injury that elevated Hartwell to lead the team in tackles two seasons ago.

57 Bart Scott

Ht: 6-2 Wt: 235 Age: 23

Year: 3

College: Southern Illinois

Acquired: Free agent, 2002

Resume: Special-teams standout deflected a pass and recovered a fumble last season after intercepting a pass as a rookie. An All-Gateway Conference selection prior to signing a free-agent contract with Baltimore.

Outlook: Energetic reserve is a factor on special teams and third downs.

58 Peter Boulware

Ht: 6-4 Wt: 255 Age: 29

Year: 8

College: Florida State

Acquired: First round, 1997

Resume: Four-time Pro Bowl selection had nine sacks in an injury-abbreviated season and ranks first in club history with 67 ½ sacks to go with 13 forced fumbles and an interception. Coming off knee surgery to repair a sprained posterior cruciate ligament and a condral lesion.

Outlook: Doubtful to participate in training camp and the season-opener against the Cleveland Browns, Boulware is likely to be a situational pass rusher when he returns.

63 Brandon Rager

Ht: 6-3 Wt: 250 Age: 21

Year: Rookie

College: San Diego State

Acquired: Free agent, 2004

Resume: Played defensive end in college and had three sacks as a junior. Attended Arkansas State and Sacramento City College before transferring.

Outlook: Although he faces an uphill climb along with several other rookie linebackers, Rager is well-suited to 3-4 scheme.

90 Cornell Brown

Ht: 6-0 Wt: 240 Age: 29

Year: 7

College: Virginia Tech

Acquired: Free agent, 2002

Resume: Veteran outside linebacker played in all 16 games last season, starting three. Finished season with 18 tackles and a sack, down from 67 tackles in 14 starts the previous year. In six seasons, Brown has seven sacks, four forced fumbles and an interception.

Outlook: Will back up Adalius Thomas at outside linebacker until Peter Boulware returns.

96 Adalius Thomas

Ht: 6-2 Wt: 270 Age: 27

Year: 5

College: Southern Miss

Acquired: Sixth round, 2000

Resume: Versatile outside linebacker made the Pro Bowl for the first time as a special-teams ace. Had 27 tackles, four sacks and a forced fumble before a fractured elbow landed him on injured reserve. Signed a three-year contract after the season.

Outlook: Will enter training camp as a starter opposite Terrell Suggs and will hold that job until Peter Boulware is healthy enough to reassert himself outside.
