Monday AM Notes:
Baxter was back to practice, ran gingerly, but did well..
Weary was back as well, looked ok..
Heap was back, but only in non-contact drills.. He did run well, and had no problems cutting..
Let me say, Billick did not like the practice much, felt they were lazy.. He chastised the defense, never heard him yell that loud..
Boller looked very good most of the day.. Smooth, fluid, quick, and, ON TARGET , especially on the deep routes.. Threw a great pass to Devoe for a 35 yard td.. didn't finish well, as he threw a pick to guess who, John Garret.. Receiver may have blown a route on that, but either way, Billick & Cavs let Boller know about it.
Hymes, looks to me he has locked up the 3rd wide out spot right now.. Again, games will decide.. Catching every thing, making great adjustments to the ball ( Gaither throwing)..
Darling was back-- struggled, dropping a number of easy catches..
Jess Mitchel had a very good day in drills & during the small scrimmages..
Edge was back, looked his usual self.. The entire D looked good, quick, fast, strong..
They used the Weaver, Kemo, Edwards line again,, Man,, blowing up plays in the back field,, quick, powerful line..
Weaver went down, looked serious at first, then we saw it was him catching one in the cookies..
They ran an end around with Abney, wow is he quick as hell..
Sadly. during punt drills, he didn't get much chance..
Kelly-- Very good on the offense, as he has been.. Took a punt, cut threw 5 guys who couldn't even get a finger on him, and went to the house..
Right after that, they put Brightfull in ( he went first and was average) skipping Abney.. Brightfull had a good day catching..
Ray laid the wood to Corey Chapman on a sweep, bringing the crowd ( 5,000 + ) to their feet..
Tight Ends - it is down to Pierce & Wilcox, both looked very good catching & running.. Wilcox seemed slow off the LOS though..
Eller is good, but won't make this team, he is likely to catch on with another team as a full back or H back..
