Ravens Notes: Monday

QB CHANGE: Because New York Jets quarterback Chad Pennington will be out for the next two to four weeks with a rotator cuff injury, the Ravens will have to alter their defensive game plan for Sunday to account for former Dallas Cowboys starter Quincy Carter.

Carter is much more mobile than Pennington, but lacks his precise accuracy and sound decision-making skills.

"We'll have to get a feel for exactly how they will use Quincy Carter, which there's limited information on," Billick said. "We'll have to project a little bit that way. It's certainly going to affect it. Clearly, it's a different style."

I'M SORRY: Philadelphia Eagles receiver Terrell Owens, who mocked Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis' dance in the Eagles' 15-10 win, phoned Lewis last week to apologize for his actions.

"Ray accepted my apology," Owens told Philadelphia reporters.

TRAINING ROOM: Billick didn't elaborate much on the status of offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden (pulled hamstring) or tight end Todd Heap (ankle), saying, "They will show up when they're ready to go."

Ogden has missed two games and Heap has missed the last six.

Meanwhile, nickel back Deion Sanders (left toe strain) is a question mark, too. Corey Fuller played in his place Sunday and recorded five tackles.

ROTATION: Mike Flynn played for the first time since breaking his collarbone during training camp. The center substituted for right offensive guard Bennie Anderson, playing two series. Casey Rabach has started all season at center.

FULLBACK OPTION: Fullback Alan Ricard's primary duty is acting as a battering ram on isolation plays. Against the Browns, he showed he's not one-dimensional. Ricard carried the football twice for 18 yards and had a 17-yard reception.

STARTING CALL: Darnell Dinkins started in place of Terry Jones against the Browns, the first of his career.

BLACK UNIFORMS: Billick said he liked the color schemes of the Ravens' alternate uniform that made its debut Sunday, saying it reminded him of his days at San Diego State. He said the team could possibly wear them again in the playoffs.
