Ravens to scrimmage Redskins

OWINGS MILLS -- The Baltimore Ravens will scrimmage the Washington Redskins Aug. 6 at M&T Bank Stadium in the Redskins' first appearance in Baltimore since 1981 when they won a preseason game over the Colts at Memorial Stadium.

Season-ticket holders can buy discounted tickets to the scrimmage. Tickets are available to the general public, $12 for adults and $7 for children. The scrimmage takes the place of the annual Friday night scrimmage at McDaniel College and previous mock games.

The Ravens host the Redskins Sept. 1 in a preseason finale billed as the Battle of the Beltways.

"It's always good to play somebody else, the tempo, not beating on one another is a positive thing," Ravens coach Brian Billick said. "Since we play the Redskins so infrequently, it's a great chance for our fans to come out and their fans and see us go at it."

Meanwhile, nickel back Deion Sanders (toe), wide receiver Mark Clayton (hamstring), offensive guard Edwin Mulitalo (triceps), running back Musa Smith (leg), fullback Alan Ricard (knee), tight end Todd Heap (shoulder) and defensive end Tony Weaver, whose injury was unspecified, were held out of drills as the Ravens concluded a four-day voluntary minicamp.

The Ravens will hold a mandatory minicamp Monday through Thursday, and the entire team is expected to attend except for defensive end/linebacker Terrell Suggs as his felony aggravated assault trial is set to begin Monday in Phoenix.
