Polley is a Saint

OWINGS MILLS - Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Tommy Polley signed with the New Orleans Saints, ending the tenure of the former Baltimore Dunbar star after one season in his hometown. Polley, 28, departs a crowded linebackers corps,

with the return of former All-Pro Ray Lewis from a season-ending injury to go along with the presence of Bart Scott, Adalius Thomas, Terrell Suggs and newcomer Gary Stills.

Polley is known for his speed, but doesn't have ideal size for a linebacker at a lean 6-foot-3, 230 pounds. Nonetheless, he held up fairly well in the middle last season when Lewis injured his hamstring and recorded 96 tackles to lead the Ravens along with a career-high four sacks.

NOTE: Tennessee Titans general manager Floyd Reese is expected to make another attempt to restructure quarterback Steve McNair's contract this weekend in talks with agent Bus Cook.

McNair, who has a $23.46 million salary-cap figure, has already agreed to a five-year deal with Baltimore that includes an $11 million signing bonus. Cook has repeatedly said that he doesn't believe Tennessee has nearly enough salary-cap space or the inclination to match the Ravens' offer.
