Ravens: Where do we go from here?

The Baltimore Ravens are currently in a situation where they need to find answers for a number of positions on both sides of the ball. Even though they garnered the number one defense throughout the season, defensive coordinator Rex Ryan still has his work cut out trying to fill those open positions.

The biggest position yet to be filled is the one left by Adalius Thomas whom is headed to the New England Patriots.
A number of the primary players are starting to show their age beginning with starting cornerback Samari Rolle. Rolle had a dismal 2006 season where he was outplayed by a number of the top receivers in the league. He clearly is not starting material and without question not considered as a shutdown cornerback.
Slowly but surely a few questions are beginning to come up with answers in Thomas will be replaced but a pair of promising players in Jarret Johnson and Dan Cody if he can stay healthy for a season.
The Ravens also need significant help on the offensive line with Tony Pashos gone to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Pashos will be most likely in the starting lineup protecting Byron Leftwich.
Along with Pashos leaving via free agency, lose of Edwin Mulitalo will have an immediate effect on the team on and off the field. Mulitalo had recently signed a contract with the Detroit Lions. Also with that in mind, the organization is still waiting whether left tackle Jonathan Ogden will retire or come back for one more year.
Overall, the Ravens will have to address a number of needs through the draft and possibly a few late free agent signing. Head coach Brian Billick has clearly commented on the team going forward and keeping most of the team personnel in tact; however, this becomes a harder task when the players sign these lucrative contracts.
Needless to say, it looks as if the next move the Ravens are willing to do will come during the 29th pick of this year's draft and mist likely will either be an offensive lineman or cornerback. It clearly remains to be seen and that's why Ozzie Newsome is at the top of the class.
