OWINGS MILLS -- The Baltimore Ravens have signed sixth-round pick Prescott Burgess to a three-year contract that includes a $57,000 signing bonus, scout.com's Adam Caplan has learned.
The former University of Michigan linebacker confirmed that he has signed a three-year contract. It has base salaries of $285,000 in 2007, $370,000 in 2008 and $460,000 in 2009.
"It's very exciting to sign my first NFL contract, because it's a dream come true," Burgess said in a telephone interview from Anna Arbor, Mich. "Now, I just have to show them the physical part and the mental part. I'm really looking forward to training camp."
The Warren, Ohio native was an All-Big Ten Conference honorable-mention selection, recording 192 career tackles, including 108 solos, along with four sacks, four interceptions and 10 1/2 tackles for losses. He was recruited to Michigan as a safety, but outgrew the position at 6-foot-3, 240 pounds.
Aaron Wilson covers the Baltimore Ravens for the Carroll County Times and the Annapolis Capital.
