Resume: So far, Brown has recorded 24 total tackles, 17 solos, a half-sack and a deflected pass since rejoining the team in August after missing all of last season due to off-field issues. Brown graduated from Virginia Tech after being dismissed from the Ravens, impressing Ravens coach Brian Billick enough to grant him a second chance. Brown has collected 108 career tackles, five sacks, four forced fumbles and an interception. During the Ravens' Super Bowl run, Brown had 25 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles and nine special teams tackles, though he started only one game. Playing mostly at defensive end in college, Brown had 40 sacks and was named Big East Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Role against Pittsburgh: Brown will be needed in run support against shifty Steelers running back Amos Zereoue and hefty backup Chris Fuamatu-Ma'afala in the wake of Jerome Bettis' injured knee. He'll also likely wind up in some collisions with rugged fullback Dan Kreider and work against tight end Mark Bruener.
Ravens Insider: "How much different will Zereoue be to defend?"
Brown: "I think he brings more speed. That's the biggest thing. Jerome's a power guy. He'll wear you down by the fourth quarter, where Zereoue's an out-the-gate quick guy."
Ravens Insider: "What's it like to tackle ‘Fu'?"
Brown: "He's a pounder, a big guy who puts his head down and gets the short yardage."
Brown: "I think that's the biggest change in adjusting our coverage. Maddox is a sound quarterback. He's very experienced. He knows where the ball should go."
Brown: "I'm sure we're going to match up well with them because they have great athletes and we have great athletes. We'll need everybody."
Ravens Insider: "What have you noticed about Maddox since his promotion?"
Brown: "He has confidence. He's going to get rid of the ball quick. We have to get pressure on him."
Ravens Insider: "What makes this game special?"
Brown: "It's a big rivalry. We're blue-collar teams who like to pound each other. Every year, it comes down to who is the toughest."
Ravens Insider: "There's usually a lot of verbal swipes traded before a Steelers game. Anything to offer?"
Brown: "No smack. I just save my play for Sunday. There's no telling what might happen or what I might say on Sunday."
