Q&A With: Jeremiah Trotter

The Redskins linebacker, coming off reconstructive knee surgery, did more work in drills during the coaching session practice on Thursday. He's anxious to do more.

Q: How does the knee feel?
A: It's going good, it feels great. I'm just slowly getting back into it.

Q: Will you be 100 percent for training camp?
A: Without a doubt I'll be ready to go.

Q: Are you a little ahead of schedule?
A: I've been working hard, but we're being smart about it. It's hard not being in there fulltime, but I have to do what's best for my career. Whatever it takes that's what I'll do.

Q: Are your body and mind on the same page?
A: They're on the same page. It's tough to sit on the sidelines watching your team work and get better. But I know my time is coming and I know I have to be patient right now. It's a long season so I have to be smart about it. I'm slowly working my way back into it and I'm feeling great. Once the doc gives me the OK, it's gone.

Q: Do you have any apprehensions?
A: You'll always be a little hesitant about it until you get out there flying around. For the most part I feel comfortable with it and I'm doing more each week.

Q: What do you hope to do next week?
A: I'll try to do some seven on seven, do some team work maybe. They say they want to cut down on my reps, but getting out there and getting some contact would be fun.

Q: Is there a hurdle you have to overcome in your mind?
A: Yeah, I have to get out there and test it. But they'll put chains on me if I try to do too much. I slipped out there during individual passing drops today and that was a relief because a lot of times when you slip, even when you're healthy it hurts. But I felt great after it so I was excited about that.

Q: What are your thoughts on the linebacking corps all coming back?
A: I'm excited, man, because it gives us a second year with each other and in the scheme. We can only get better. I thought Lavar had a great season last year going out and making big plays. I had a slow season. I expect to get back to Pro Bowl level this year. And Jessie is an old, old, old vet. We're learning more and getting comfortable with each other and anticipating what the other person is going to do.
