Redskins add another Florida RB

The Redskins filled the remaining spot on their training camp roster with a running back who doubles as a special teams performer and played with rookie Matt Jones at Florida.

Matt Jones won't be the only former Florida Gator running back in Richmond.

The Redskins announced the signing of free agent Mack Brown Monday. The 5-foot-11, 214-pounder played 49 games at Florida where he served primarily as a backup runner and , according to Washington' press release, he also served as a key member of the Gators' special teams unit.

One open spot remained on the Redskins' 90-man training camp roster after releasing running back Michael Hill last week.

Between 2010-14, Brown rushed for 805 on 210 attempts with four touchdowns. He played in all 12 games last season, teaming up with Jones in the Gators' backfield. The Redskins' third round pick in the 2015 Draft, Jones is expected to have a sizable role for Washington this season.

Brown, a Georgia native, received a taste of the NFL with the Houston Texans earlier this year.

The odds are against Brown making the 53-man roster with Alfred Morris, Jones, Silas Redd, Chris Thompson and Trey Williams ahead of him on the depth chart.
