DB DaMon Cromartie-Smith (with injury settlement)

S Akeem Davis (with injury settlement)

LB Terrance Plummer

C Austin Reiter

DL Travian Robertson

WR Evan Spencer (designated as injured)

DL Robert Thomas

TE D.J. Williams (with injury settlement)

RB Trey Williams

Contract terminated

NT Jerrell Powe

* With Spencer and Reiter waived, seven of the 10 draft picks from 2015 made the final roster. Injured DB Tevin Mitchell was waived during training camp

*Several of these players likely join the Redskins practice squad. Bates, Cofield, Hamm, Plummer, Spencer and Williams make sense along with Reiter or Larsen.

* These moves mean:

  • Rashad Ross made the roster as one of six wide receivers after an impressive
  • At this point the Redskins kept 10 defensive backs, including corner Deshazor Everett. This doesn't count Bashaud Breeland (suspension), who will return to the active roster for Week 2. Doubtful 11 remain at that point.
  • They also kept 10 offensive lineman as G Spencer Long, C/G Josh LeRibeus and T Ty Nsekhe made the roster. This isn't that surprising, though nine is often the number. If someone is dropped, one of these three likely gets the unwanted call.

  • Breaking Burgundy first reported the release of offensive lineman Tyler Larsen. In addition, BB reported offensive tackle Takoby Cofield, according to a source, could be added to the practice squad following his release Saturday.
  • The Redskins apparently will end the day with only two tight ends. Breaking Burgundy confirmed, as previously reported by ESPN's John Keim, that Washington waived Je'Ron Hamm. According to a source, ther is a "good shot" Hamm is added to the practice squad. Unless the Redskins feel comfortable with OT Tom Compton serving as the third TE, expect another one added in the coming days.
  • Inside linebacker Terrance Plummer and outside linebacker Houston Bates were also waived Saturday. Both are potential if not likely PS additions. Assuming Jackson Jeffcoat and Martell Spaight are safe, the Redskins would have eight linebackers on the roster.
  • Running back Trey Williams, who suffered an ankle injury in Thursday's preseason finale, was also reportely cut. This means, at least for now, the Redskins, will go with four running backs. Have to imagine the Redskins would like Williams on the 53-man roster, but also would believe other teams mght have interest in the compact and shifty runner.
  • Rashad Ross reportedly made the 53-man roster, per 106.7's Brian McNally. Does this mean Evan Spencer is headed to waivers and perhaps the practice squad or will the Redskins keep seven wide receivers? Spencer's primary value comes on special teams and as a blocker so the coaching staff could simply be viewing him as help for those areas regardless of position.
  • Perhaps the biggest question is what happens on the OL. Second-year guard Spencer Long and C/G Josh LeRibeus are sack on the bubble. Long labored in the final preseason game. If the coaching staff wants two backup tackles -- likely Compton and Ty Nsekhe -- then Long could be a surprise cut.
  • On the good surprise front, CB Deshazor Everett made the roster, according to the Washington Post's Mike Jones. This would give Washington six corners assuming Justin Rogers stays around. The Redskins won't have Bashuad Breeland (suspension) for Week 1. Perhaps we need to look closer at why DeAngelo Hall surprisingly received those extra reps in the fourth preseason game.

Others reportedly waived include:

CB Quinton Dunbar

C Austin Reiter

WR Reggie Bell

WR Colin Lockett

TE D.J. Williams (injury settlement)

S Akeem Davis

RB Mack Brown

OLB Sage Harold

* Reiter selected in the seventh round, is the second of 10 2015 picks waived so far. Injured CB Tevin Mitchel was released during training camp
