Redskins RB Matt Jones runs over competition in Scout's rookie rankings

The Redskins selected Matt Jones 95th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. After two weeks, Scout.com ranks the RB much, much higher.

Matt Jones might not be the No. 1 running back on the Washington Redskins RB depth chart, but he's tops when it comes to 2015 rookies. All of them.

That's according to Scout.com's Senior Football analyst Jamie Newberg. In his weekly NFL rookie rankings column, Newberg slots Washington's third round pick right at the top.

1) Matt Jones (RB) Washington Redskins

Good for Matt Jones. This is a player I first saw going into his sophomore year at Armwood high school outside of Tampa. He was a man about boys then and I am glad to see him have a breakout game in the second week of his professional career in the NFL. Lets face it, the Redskins need him and his production. Jones gave this offense a spark when it needed it against a good Rams defense. Jones finished with 123 yards on 19 carries, scoring twice. He also caught three passes for 23 yards.

Guard Brandon Scherff made the honorable mentions. Click here for the rest of Newberg's list, which includes a video highlighting Jones.
