5 questions - Heather McDonough on Redskins-Jets

Pondering whether Todd Bowles, the defense or I.K. Enemkpali gets most of the credit for the Jets 3-1 start plus more about the Redskins' Week 6 foe.

Each week Breaking Burgundy checks in with a media member or interested party of the Washington Redskins' next opponent for the "Five W" questions. With Todd Bowles, Brandon Marshall, Ryan Fitzpatrick and the 3-1 New York Jets on tap for Sunday's meeting in the Meadowlands, we check in with Heather McDonough, NBC4 Senior Sports Producer, University of Maryland alum and Jersey girl (Bruuuuuuuuuuce) by way of Staten Island.

Breaking Burgundy: WHO gets the most credit for the 3-1 start: Head coach Todd Bowles, the playmaking defense or IK Enemkpali?

Heather McDonough: All great options. I’ll go with the defense… 10 takeaways in the first 2 games?  Really set the tone. Obviously the return of Darrelle Revis has been huge. Would this team be where they are with Geno Smith instead of Fitzy?  Probably not (so thanks I.K.).  Then again Chris Ivory has a lot to do with the offensive success too.

BB: WHERE do you think recently reinstated defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson should dine for his pre-game if intends on "coming to eat" Sunday against the Redskins?

HM: He can go to one of the many fantastic diners New Jersey has to offer. Get a turkey dinner, but save the stuffing for Alfred Morris and Chris Thompson (and Matt Jones, you know, if he plays).

BB: As someone who covers the Redskins and also endured the Butt Fumble, WHAT is your sense of the local reaction with Kirk Cousins?

HM: What is the reaction about Kirk Cousins?  Redskins fans just want to win.  If you throw too many interceptions, you aren’t going to win.  I think they’re willing to keep going with Cousins as long as the turnovers and losses don’t mount up.

BB: WHEN during Sunday's broadcast do you think the announcers will feel compelled to let the audience know Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick went to Harvard?

HM: Hmmm. He’s been in the league a few years now, but they do love to throw that out there. I’ll say sometime late in the first quarter.

BB: WHY will the Jets win or lose to the Burgundy and Gold team?

HM: The Jets will win for several reasons. They are fresh coming off a bye.  They get a beast on defense back in the fold.  The defense is already the best in the league. The Redskins are without their starting left tackle, center, tight end, and corners.  It woulda been a tough day regardless of injuries, but I think that’s a bit too much to overcome.
