Jacobs Sticks Around

After practice, tackle Jon Jansen walked over to Jacobs at midfield, put his arm around him and said he wanted to talk to the rookie. Corner Fred Smoot joined in and eventually David Terrell and corner Lloyd Harrison did as well. Safety Ricot Joseph had a roll of tape

They led Jacobs to the goal post and taped him up. Someone--we think linebacker Jessie Armstead--dumped gatorade on him, leading Smoot to say, ''At least he won't be dehydrated.''

But quarterback Patrick Ramsey, who was taped to the goal posts for a long time last summer, rescued the rookie within about two minutes, cutting him free.

''I thought I was going to make it through the week,'' Jacobs said.
