Pierre Garcon, Chris Baker tell Redskins Kirk Cousins needs to get paid

Kirk Cousins led the Redskins to the NFC East title. Now his teammates want the quarterback to hit the payday jackpot.

Whether contract talks between the Redskins and Kirk Cousins are ongoing or closed off, two of the quarterbacks' teammates made it clear who they're backing.

Reports popped up in recent days involving the state of negotiatons for a long-term deal with the understanding Washington can slap the one-year franchise tag on Cousins. In either scenario, Cousins will receive substantal money for at least 2016, but coming to terms on a multi-year day has possible benefits for all, from long-term security to salary cap help.

Defensive lineman Chris Baker was the first teammate to weigh in.

On Wednesday morning, wide receiver Pierre Garcon voiced his opinion.

Don't expect these comments will sway managements opinion, though it's somewhat interesting Baker and Garcon chimed in on Cousins' contract talks saw publicly. From Cousins' perspective, when it comes to such support, how can you not like that.
