Camp Report Summary - Day 9

Redskins defensive lineman Nic Clemons suffered a left hip flexor strain and will not practice tomorrow and likely will miss more time. Champ Bailey's agent, Jack Reale, won't be coming to camp this week. But he's expected to be here within the next two weeks

. . Want a couple longshots who the coaches are intrigued by? Third-year guard Brad Bedell, who started four games for Cleveland in 2001 but did not play in the league last season, and rookie defensive back Ade Jimoh, an undrafted free agent.

. . . Running back Chad Morton did not practice today because of a sprained left shoulder, suffered from a collision with an offensive lineman Monday.

. . . Guard Randy Thomas did not practice because of a sore left knee. Not sure if he'll practice Wednesday.

. . . Here's why I like receiver Taylor Jacobs: after practice this afternoon he raced over to offensive coordinator Hue Jackson as he walked off the field. Jacobs, who did not practice because of a sore groin, grabbed Jackson, who returned to the field to throw passes to the rookie. Jacobs is constantly wanting to play catch.

. . . Another reason I like Jacobs, who likely will participate some Wednesday, is the way he turns upfield immediately after catching the ball. Watch him do this in the games.

. . . Receiver Cliff Russell (knee) is expected to return to practice Wednesday.

. . . The weather has followed an annoying pattern all of training camp. It's overcast in the morning with the clouds breaking up by noontime. Then it's hot and humid for the afternoon. There's a constant threat of rain, but we've had no downpours. Yet.

. . . Receiver Darnerien McCants (hamstring) is expected to take part in some drills Wednesday. He's moving much better on the side. And, while the offense ran plays today, McCants would walk through his assignment about 10 yards behind them.
