Artie Burns

Position: Cornerback

College: Miami

Height: 5'11"

Weight: 193

Age: 20

Ben Standig's mock draft for CSNmidatlantic.com: No. 42 to Miami

(Analysis of games vs. Pittsburgh and Nebraska)

Positives: Artie Burns is an exceptional athlete on the football field. He ran a 4.46 at the combine which proved the long speed he shows on film. Burns can play with a bit of an attitude which you like to see in your cornerback. The Miami native has pretty good ball skills. He played both in press techniques and bail/off technique.

Concerns: At this point in his development, Burns is a bit raw. There are some technique flaws he needs to clean up. Burns needs to work on consistency on fluid transitions. He occasionally loses his balance. Film shows he needs to show the same effort every play.

If drafted by Redskins: The Redskins need a long term answer across from Bashaud BreelandChris Culliver is coming off a season-ending injury and will likely start if healthy but Redskins need youth there to develop and take over when the time is right. Burns would bring the Hurricane presence that Redskins secondary was been missing for awhile.
