Washington Redskins fans were begging for their team to trade for a player Scot McCloughan is familiar with from his days in Seattle: Kam Chancellor.
Here's a tweet from the ESPN draft analyst last year in response to a question about the USC hybrid safety.
Don't go crazy yet, but the measurables are certainly interesting:
|Height||Weight||Arm Length||Hand Size||40-yd dash||20-yd shuttle||3-cone||Vertical||Broad|
|Su'a Cravens||6 ft 1 in||226 lb||32 1/8 in||9 1/2 in||4.69 s||4.41 s||6.92 s||30 1/2 in||9 ft 6 in|
|Kam Chancellor||6 ft 3¼ in||231 lb||33 in||9 1/2 in||4.69 s||4.41 s||7.36 s||32 in||9 ft 9 in|
The former Trojan is a solid athlete with fluid motion that allowed him to cover college receivers on an island. Things culminate with his natural instincts to be a ball hawk in the secondary. Redskins defensive coordinator Joe Barry recruited Cravens to USC, although he left before his enrollment. He will likely find a way to maximize the youngster's complete package.Cravens began his career at USC at strong safety before playing mostly at the line of scrimmage as a hybrid linebacker. His strength and physical nature are traits possessed by Chancellor, a key member of Seattle Super Bowl winning defense.
Cravens may or may not be the next Kam Chancellor, but he certainly helps the Redskins handle the safety position with numbers.
