Redskins draft Indiana QB Nate Sudfeld in the sixth round

Nate Sudfeld became the first quarterback selected by the Redskins since drafting Kirk Cousins.

Player: Nate Sudfeld

Position: QB

College: Indiana

Height: 6-foot-6

Weight: 234 pounds

Prospect rankScout (202)

NFL.com: "Veteran quarterback with the desired frame for the position and coming off of his best year yet. Sudfeld tends to push the ball rather than deliver with a clean weight shift and follow through, creating inconsistencies with accuracy and velocity. There is some solid tape on Sudfeld that could give NFL teams hope, but issues with making the right reads will work against him."

Analysis: The first thing that stands out about Sudfeld is his size. At 6-foot-6 and 234 pounds, Sudfeld has the prototypical size to see plenty well over his lineman. Though there are questions surrounding consistency and throwing motion, Sudfeld will have plenty of time to learn behind Kirk Cousins. It was well known that the Redskins would likely take a quarterback in the mid-to-late rounds, and they executed both patience and discretion in waiting for Sudfeld in the sixth round.
