The USC rookie grew up a fan of the late safety. Now Cravens gets to play for Sean Taylor's NFL team and honor him in the process.
The Redskins clearly plan on attacking the hybrid safety trend with second-round pick Su'a Cravens. The rookie from USC plans on entering the NFL honoring one of his childhood heroes, Sean Taylor.
Washington announced which jersey numbers its top two picks, wide receiver Josh Doctson and Cravens, will wear for the 2016 season.
Cravens wore 21, Taylor's primary number with the Redskins, during his college career. That number is unofficially retired following the safety's tragic death in 2007.That left a clear alternative: 36, the number Taylor wore when he entered the league.
