Rookie matchups: Will Vikings' Laquon Treadwell tread water against Redskins secondary?

The Redskins and Vikings went back to back with first round receivers, meaning a Josh Doctson vs Laquon Treadwell comparison will occur in Week 10

The NFL Draft is over and the work to get all the rookies ready for the NFL begins. For the Washington Redskins that means first round pick Josh Doctson and six other players selected in the 2016 draft. The same scenario exists for the other 31 NFL teams of which the Redskins will face 13 including each NFC East rival twice. Let's begin taking a look at the interesting matchups and scenarios involving the new guys.

Who: Minnesota Vikings

When: Week 10: Sunday, November 13 at 1 pm on FOX

Where: FedEx Field

Interesting rookies:

* 1st round -- Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss

* 2nd round -- Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson

* 5th round -- Kentrell Brothers, LB, Missouri

Major matchup:  If you heard that the Redskins were going to take a wide receiver in the first round, Treadwell probably would have been your guess over TCU's Josh Doctson. Not general manager Scot McCloughan, who clearly had Doctson rated higher than the big, strong Ole Miss product known for his hands and run blocking ability. We'll see if Treadwell can tread water against cornerbacks Josh Norman and Bashaud Breeland.

Keep an eye on: Back in the pre-draft phase there were some experts who thought the Redskins would spend their first round pick on Alexander, who ended up sliding deep into the second round thanks in part to not recording single interception during two seasons as starter. Of course, Washington's priorities changed when it signed Norman not long before the draft. With Alexander on board in Minnesota, we could have an ACC matchup if he's up against slot receiver and former Duke standout Jamison Crowder. There will also be comparisons with another ACC player, Redskins third round pick and fellow CB Kendall Fuller.

Don't forget: When you add Brothers to a linebacking core that already boasts Anthony Barr and Chad Greenway, opposing offensive coordinators could lose some sleep. Brothers was a production machine in the SEC with 273 tackles over the last two years thanks to his high IQ and instincts for the game. Should the inside linebacker be rushed into duty during his rookie season, Washington should look to put him in tough coverage situations with the ultimate mismatch against Jordan Reed.
