You Like Them? Redskins Select 2016 Team Captains

The team announced their captain's for the 2016 season ahead of their Week 1 date with the Steelers.

Less than a week before the big Monday night showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Washington Redskins announced five team captains for the 2016 season.

Offense: Quarterback Kirk Cousins and left tackle Trent Williams

Defense: Free safety DeAngelo Hall and middle linebacker Will Compton

Special teams: Tight end Niles Paul

The five players were chosen based on votes from their teammates.

Cousins' historic 2015 season clearly caught the eyes of his teammates, while Compton serves in a quarterback role of the defense after taking over midway through last season. Williams and Hall are important veteran presences on both sides of the ball, while Paul has worked his way back from a season-ending ankle injury.

A year ago punter Tress Way, who was arguably Washington's best player throughout this summer, was the special teams captain. Not now.
