Jonathan Hefney is a cornerback prospect from Rock Hill, SC that signed with Tennessee last year. Hefney will spend this season at Hargrave Military Academy, and he plans on joining the Vols in the class of 2004. While he is a bit undersized at 5-9 and 180 pounds, there is nothing small about his ability on the field.
In a live passing scrimmage on Thursday afternoon, Hefney came away with two interceptions, and his most impressive play on the day was a diving pass break up on a long bomb. Afterwards Hargrave Head Coach Robert Prunty said jokingly (sort of), "Come on Scott, he's got to be a five star now!"
For Hefney's part, he has no other plans other than to join Tennessee once his academics are in order.
"I'm planning on going back to Tennessee," said Hefney. "They were the first team to start recruiting me, and I felt like they were the team that wanted me the most last season."
Hefney is a solid 180 pounds and will have the ability to compete for playing time early in Knoxville.
