Don't forget to exercise your right and cast your vote(s):
No, I'm not talking about the Presidential election or the Heisman trophy, although you should probably vote for those things too. But the NFL gives fans an opportunity to vote some of the league's top players into the Pro Bowl each year and polls are now open. Really, they've been open since mid-October, but there really isn't a better day to tell someone to vote than today. So, go vote!
As for who you should vote for, I think the Washington Redskins do have a few legit candidates. On offense, suspension aside, LT Trent Williams deserves your vote. He may have messed up his chance for All-Pro consideration, but he certainly deserves to be in the Pro Bowl. Williams was playing like the league's best prior to getting suspended.
Of course, many Redskins fans will suggest that TE Jordan Reed also deserves a Pro Bowl nod. While you definitely should, as I believed pre-season, he may come up short of making the Pro Bowl roster. At the mid-way point, I just don't see Reed making the roster. It's really not his fault. Reed is playing well. But the team hasn't used him as often as they should in the red zone. Not to mention, they rarely use him on vertical routes -- which he's actually good at. So while he produces big plays, the Pro-Bowl can often become a popularity contest and there's a few guys that could bump him on the ballot. Players such as Jimmy Graham, Greg Olsen and Zach Miller could get more attention. But it would be nice to see him finally get some league-wide respect with a Pro Bowl nod.
On defense, there's no secret that prize-free agent pickup Josh Norman deserves your vote. Norman is tied for second in the league with 11 passes defended. He should really have at least five interceptions this season, but only has one at the mid-way mark. Either way, Norman has proven that he's one of the league's top cornerbacks. The success he had in Carolina has translated to Washington.
Another player you should consider voting for is WR/PR Jamison Crowder. Specifically at the punt returner position, although he's having an outstanding year at receiver. Crowder ranks second in the league for punt return yards (230), including an 85 yard touchdown. The issue is, he's not yet known league-wide. That could change in November if Crowder shines on the National stage against the Green Bay Packers in Week 11 and Thanksgiving's dual against the Dallas Cowboys.
