Manny Benton often tweets random thoughts regarding the Washington Redskins at random times of the day that typically bring interesting dialog. Now from Monday through Thursday at around 9 a.m., you can find those Twitter-sized thoughts in "Morning Manny." Complete with explanations!
I'll admit, this Week 15 game between the Washington Redskins (7-5-1) and the Carolina Panthers (5-8) has a "trap game" feel to it. While the Redskins could still make the playoffs with a loss, winning the rest of their games would be ideal. But anytime a struggling team that has talent shows up on the schedule, you just get that feeling of it possibly being a trap game. Good thing is, former Panther CB Josh Norman won't allow that to happen.
The All-pro corner, who turned 29 Thursday, will receive the birthday gift of his life this week. An opportunity to get revenge on a team that abruptly released him this off-season, after a top-3 caliber year at his position, is the ultimate birthday present for a guy like Norman. So even if the Redskins were to get a little lax and overlook this struggling Carolina Panthers' team -- Norman won't allow that.
Since signing with the Redskins, Josh Norman has been nothing but a great leader, teammate and player for the organization. His energy and personality is contagious. I'm certain his intensity will outbreak on the rest of the team Monday night.
“What I love about Josh [Norman] – and when I trained with him before the NFL Draft back in 2012, I got a feel for it long before he ever came here – but what I’ve always loved about him is that he’s a worker," QB Kirk Cousins said Wednesday. "There’s just a… I know it may not come across in the media with the answers or the way he answers questions, but he’s just a quiet, humble leader on this team who goes about his business."
This revenge game comes at a perfect time for Josh Norman and the Washington Redskins. It will give the team an extra spark. Especially when you consider the fact they've had their struggles against the Panthers in the past. Since 2006, these two teams have faced each other five times. The Panthers have won the last four match-ups. This is a game that has all the makings of being a scratch and crawl fest.
