Redskins Practice: Safety Concerns; Jordan Reed Shows Progress

Updates on Su'a Cravens, Jordan Reed and others as Redskins prep for the Week 17 matchup against the Giants.

The Washington Redskins returned to the practice field Wednesday ahead of Sunday's must-win matchup with the New York Giants. Of course, the question is always who was and wasn't on the practice field. Head coach Jay Gruden provided various updates.

Su'a Cravens missed the last two games and it appears the rookie may receive an unwanted hat trick. That Donte Whitner (quad) is also looking unlikely for Sunday means the Redskins might have no choice but to add another safety behind Duke IhenachoWill Blackmon and Deshazor Everett

UPDATE: The Redskins placed Whitner on injured reserved and re-signed safety Josh Evans.

* Tight end Jordan Reed (shoulder) was among the limited participants, but what he did indicated progress, according to Gruden.

* Running back Robert Kelley was on the field, but the team will move slow with the rookie, who suffered a knee injury at Chicago.

* Quote of the day from Gruden involved DeSean Jackson, who practiced after hurting his jaw in Saturday's win.
