Redskins Sign Ex-Browns Receiver Terrelle Pryor

The former Cleveland Browns joins the Redskins on a 1-year deal.

The Washington Redskins' wide receiver unit in 2017 won't be nearly as experienced as the 2016 version, but wow they're going to be fun to watch.

Former Cleveland Browns standout Terrelle Pryor Sr. signed with the Redskins, the team announced Friday. According to multiple reports, the deal is one-year, $8 million contract.

Pryor, a former college quarterback turned receiver, visited with Washington Thursday. In his first full season at receiver, he had 77 receptions for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns in 2016 for the Browns. Those are impressive numbers considering Cleveland's brutal quarterback group, which included former Redskins starter Robert Griffin III. Pryor had five receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown against the Redskins in Week 4.

The 6-foot-6 Pryor joins 6-foot-4 Josh Doctson on the outside with Jamison Crowder in the slot. Combined with Pro Bowl tight end Jordan Reed, the Redskins have a high-potential group of targets for whoever ends up throwing passes.

The one-year aspect helps the Redskins bridge the loss of veterans Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson in free agency while allowing Pryor, 27, a chance to improve his game before possibly inking a lucrative multi-year contract next season.

Former Vikings receiver Cordarrelle Patterson also visited Washington Friday, according to the NFL Network, before leaving to meet with Oakland.

Pryor starred on the college level as quarterback for Ohio State and entered the NFL at the same position as a third round supplemental draft selection by the Oakland Raiders in 2011.

Oh, with all that size, those fade passes are staying put.
