Redskins 2017 NFL Draft: Michigan State Safety Montae Nicholson

The Redskins went back to defense and the secondary with their second fourth-round pick.

And with their fifth selection in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins select... Michigan State safety Montae Nicholson. Read on for details about the Big Ten product and check out all the details on the Redskins' draft class.

Pick: 4th round, 123rd overall

WhoMontae Nicholson

College: Michigan State

Position: Safety

Height/weight:  6'2" 212 pounds

Profile (From NFL.com) "Nicholson has outstanding size and could test well at the combine and his pro day, but his tape is blah and no amount of workouts in shorts and t-shirts will change that. Nicholson's lack of playmaking production combined with his unsure tackling make him a traits-only prospect who could have a hard time sticking in the league unless he finds more confidence and aggression."

Why him: The Redskins are hopeful the tandem of D.J. Swearinger and Su'a Cravens provides a notable upgrade from last year's safety play. With DeAngelo Hall coming off another injury-plagued season, more depth needed.
