Rookie Matchups: Seattle's draft picks may not be asked too much immediately

As a playoff team, the Seahawks already have the talent. Potentially drafting for the future.

The NFL Draft is over and the work to get all the rookies ready for the NFL begins. For the Washington Redskins that means first round pick Jonathan Allen and nine other players selected in the 2017 draft. The same scenario exists for the other 31 NFL teams of which the Redskins will face 13 including each NFC East rival twice. Let's begin taking a look at the interesting matchups and scenarios involving the new guys.

Who: Seattle Seahawks

When: Week 9: Sunday, November 5 at 4:05 pm on FOX

Where: CenturyLink Field

Interesting rookies:

* 2nd round -- Malik McDowell, DT, Michigan State

* 3rd round -- Shaquill Griffin, CB, UCF

* 3rd round -- Delano Hill, S, Michigan

Major matchup:  At one point in time, McDowell was consistently mocked to Washington by draft pundits. Instead, he fell as there are questions regarding how he will pan out in the NFL. He has a high ceiling and low floor. He is gifted physically, but he needs to be consistently motivated. McDowell could very well be the other starting defensive tackle across from last year's second round pick Jarran Reed and see time going up against Shawn Lauvao or Brandon Scherff this year.

Keep an eye on: Griffin was a Seahawks type cornerback before they even drafted him the why he likes to dirty his nose with physical play. He is not the greatest in one-on-one coverage, but Seattle will have time to work on that as he will likely be, at best, the fourth corner option behind Richard Sherman, Jeremy Lane, and DeShawn Shead.

Don't forget: Hill was selected just five spots after Griffin in a pick acquired by Seattle moving down for McDowell. Like Griffin, Hill is another physical player that will fit right in with Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas. Hill runs around a lot and will be around the ball whenever he is able to get on the field.
