Giants injury update - Tiki Barber doubtful

RB Tiki Barber sat out Wednesday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Head Coach Jim Fassel said that Barber's hamstring is better, but that he won't play unless he can run full speed. It's possible that a final decision on New York's star running back won't be made until Saturday or even Sunday.

"I'm going to be smart with him," Fassel said. However, Barber said on Wednesday that the ultimate decision on whether to play or not will be his – and only his. "It's totally up to me," he said. "If I feel well enough, I'll go. It's my call."

As for LG Glenn Parker, who suffered concussions during New York's last two games, he sat out practice and is doubtful. If Parker sits out, as expected, Jason Whittle will step into the starting lineup.

Sunday's key match-up very well may take place when veterans LT Lomas Brown and Redskins RDE Bruce Smith go head-to-head. The two, while friendly coming out of college eons ago, are not exactly on the best of terms now. Both players admitted that their match-up could get ugly.

LDE Michael Strahan was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week after his three-sack performance against New Orleans. That was the third time in his career that Strahan took home player-of-the-week honors.
