It doesn't really matter how many points you lose by and like you said there is nothing that we take out of this right now. Maybe when we watch film we'll see that maybe there were some plays to be made there. Anytime you don't convert on third down you're going to be off of the field. We have to do a much better job of that. Progress?
I don't think it's reeling backwards because we don't have any further back to go, at least we didn't. Their game plan was pretty good. This team has me in place at quarterback to make plays and I didn't make any today. I let my teammates down today.
The defense played well but it is irrelevant because we lost. It don't matter on how one side plays but that is only good for ranking and I don't care about rankings, I care about winning. We must play consistently on both sides of the ball for four quarters and that is how you win games. That is what championship teams do and that is what we have to do. One thing our defense did is that we never gave up. We kept giving the offense chances and that is our job but we didn't win the game so it didn't matter.
I'm just out there to do what is asked of me and if the ball doesn't come to me then it doesn't come to me. If it does then I have to catch it and do what I can with it.
I didn't just start playing this game yesterday and I think if you are a professional you prepare, that is just what you do. You prepare harder to overcome your failures. You can't get a bad hand when you're Darrell Green, nineteen years in the best city, the best team and there is nothing that can happen to damper my career or my approach or my abilities in this team. The spirit was right, the energy and the approach, we made a few mistakes even myself. I feel very good about what lies ahead for us.
RE- Bruce Smith I thought they were ripe for the picking to be honest with you. We just didn't get it done; there is something about that second half. We don't have the confidence to sustain the level of play that we had when we entered into the ballgame.
