Behind Enemy Lines: Simeon Rice

The Bucs' defensive end harassed the Redskins last year, finishing with four sacks. He spoke with the media Wednesday.

Q: What do you remember about the Joe Gibbs Redskin teams?

A: They had a great receiving trio, put up a lot of points. They had the Hogs, a big line, some Pro Bowl players.

Q: What do you remember most about last year's game when you had four sacks?

A: That I performed well, but it was a struggle to win. And Laveranues Coles catching those little hitches and turning them into big yardage.

Q: Why do you think you had such a big game here?

A: If I told you that, I'd have to kill you.

Q: Do you think Chris Samuels will be pumped for this game?

A: I hope not. He's a great player. I understand this won't be a cakewalk, regardless of what I've done in the past.

Q: Do you think you can be as good a defense as you've been in the past?

A: I think we can be as good as we've ever been. But we have this Sunday to find out.

Q: Why do you think you can be that good?

A: Because the mainstays we have and the guys who have produced: myself, McFarland, Derrick Brooks, Rhonde, Brian Kelly. Our secondary is second to none. Our linebackers are better with Gold and up front we have a lot of competitors, young guys who want to vie for history in the league. They want to be part of the folklore of the NFL. We just have to evolve as a team.

Q: You won't miss Sapp or Lynch?

A: Yeah, we'll miss them for various reasons. They're friends of mine. But you move on. So you don't miss them at this point because the games are about to begin.
