Green may stick around awhile

Darrell Green might just listen to the public. After insisting on Wednesday that he wasn't re-thinking his retirement decision, Green said after Sundays' 20-6 loss to the Eagles that he's still uncertain about next season.

And, he said, he'll announce a decision in the next few days about his future, saying ''all doors are open.''

Green had announced in September that this would be his last season. But Green said he's been overwhelmed by the reaction from Redskins fans, who keep telling him to return--at least four banners said as much at FedEx Field.

''That's the thing that's gotten my attention,'' Green said. ''[The decision] is not that simple, but I've got to make a decision.'' But his wife, Jewell, wants him to stick to his original decision. And Green will weigh how much he thinks he can still devote to football, anxious to spend more time with his foundation.

Redskins coach Marty Schottenheimer has said he wouldn't block Green's return. Schottenheimer largely has been portrayed as pushing Green out the door. But sources close to Green last year said Green planned to walk away after the 2001 season.
