Post Game Press Conference: Joe Gibbs

OPENING REMARKS: First, I want to congratulate coach Coughlin. I think he really had his team ready, and I think from our standpoint you are not going to win games up here when you make the mistakes we made…but I give a lot of credit to the Giants and it's a tough place to come and play and I feel like we made so many mistakes today…I think back and I don't know that I have seen that many, but it wasn't just because of that. I think the Giants played a good game and I give them all the credit.

Q: HOW IS (QB) MARK BRUNELL?

A: I don't know, I think he got a hamstring and we'll just have to see.

Q: TALK ABOUT HOW MUCH THIS HURTS. YOU COME UP HERE, NFC EAST GAME AND THEY WERE ONLY ABLE TO SCORE THREE POINTS ON THEIR OWN, 17 COMES OFF OF TURNOVERS.

A: …I don't know how many points we have given up -- probably something like 20 points, 23 points or something -- without putting our defense in a position where they can play defense. We are turning the ball over and giving up seven points, giving up a field goal and last week it was a kickoff return. We are really putting our defense in a bad position. I think they kept on fighting hard today, but when you make that many mistakes you are not going to win games up here in the NFL.

Q: DID THE GIANTS DEFENSE DO ANYTHING TO YOU THAT SHOCKED OR SURPRISED YOU?

A: No, I just think they played a very solid, sound game…I think they had them ready to play and I think they played an extremely good game.

Q: ON ILL-ADVISED TURNOVERS

A: I think, first of all, it is not any one person. It is all of us. I think it is spread around, everybody made mistakes and that is the way I look at it. We all lost the game. All of us were together on it, including me. That's the way I look at it. I don't try to break it down. It wasn't one key play, it was a lot of mistakes today and we all made them and we've got to look at it as a team.

Q: UNCHARACTERISTIC FOR YOUR TEAM NOT TO PLAY SMART

A: You don't play smart, you don't win, so there's a lesson in that.
