Steve Spurrier is reliving the good ol' days with his latest addition.
The Redskins signed former Gator receiver Jacquez Green to a three-year $4.3 million contract last Saturday. Green is the fourth Ex-Gator superstar to join forces in Washington. Receivers Reidel Anthony (the other former Buc) and Chris Doering and quarterback Danny Wuerfel are the others, and like them, Green signed because he believes the group can again enjoy the kind of success it had in college.
Green's best season with the Bucs was in 1999, when he caught 56 passes for 791 yards and three touchdowns. Green caught 51 passes for 773 yards and one touchdown as a starter alongside Keyshawn Johnson in 2000, but in 2001 he clearly became frustrated with the offense, which had few plays designed for him.
The Bucs were hoping right up until he signed with the Redskins to bring the 1998 second-round draft pick back as a third receiver and punt returner.
