Redskins Park Report: Springs May Not Play

Shawn Springs still had not recovered sufficiently from a shin injury to practice on Wednesday. That plus more on #56

. . . The Redskins might have to play without corner Shawn Springs, who missed practice Wednesday with the shin injury that caused him to leave the Denver game early. Springs is listed as questionable. Fellow corner Carlos Rogers also did not practice, though he's listed as probable with a knee injury.

Also sitting out today: running back Ladell Betts (groin), kicker John Hall (quad), RB Clinton Portis (calf) and G Randy Thomas (shoulder). Betts and Hall are listed as questionable; Portis and Thomas are probable.

Also on the injury list: DT Cornelius Griffin (wrist) and DT Joe Salave'a (thigh). Both are probable.

For Kansas City: OT Willie Roaf (hamstring), OT Kevin Sampson (illness) and LB Gary Stills (shoulder) are questionable.

. . . The LaVar saga continues.

From LaVar: ''I do my job. If they call on me they call on me. I feel like what it's going to be. If it changes, it changes. I'll be ready, but it doesn't seem like it's going to change any. I'll sit back, I guess.''

And: ''There's different things that I hear. I don't know which one to think. A lot of writers seem to know why I'm not playing.''

And: ''The truth is out there somewhere man, somebody knows the truth. I don't happen to be the one that knows it.''

And: ''I've been tagged with being a freelancer. I've been tagged with being undisciplined. Marvin Lewis has been quoted and different people have been quoted -- if that's what they what to use, that's fine. I'm tired of trying to defend myself. I'm not going to keep telling people. What good will that do? I'm not going to report what my defenseive assignment is on every defense so people believe me. I get on the field and do what I'm supposed to do.''

Then there's this from Joe Gibbs: ''I've talked to him more than any player I've coached in 30 years. Probably three times as much. I told him exactly what he needs to do. Our coaching staff has tons of experience and I believe they play the best guys. At whatever point he's the best person to be in there, I'm convinced he'll be in there. That ends it for me. I want to concentrate on Kansas City.''

Thing is, Gibbs said he wasn't talking about Gibbs but the defensive coaches.
