The Redskins liked Todd Wade a few weeks ago when he worked out for them. But they didn't like the price.
A few weeks, and no solid offers elsewhere and Wade was willing to sign with Washington. He's started 85 of 86 games in his career, but he gives the Redskins depth at right tackle -- something they didn't have.
Wade was a second-round pick in 2000 by Miami; he played the last two seasons in Houston. Wade missed the last seven games after a knee injury, which also prevented most teams from looking at him seriously before now.
''He's a bright guy,'' Redskins coach Joe Gibbs said. ''You talk to people down there [in Houston] and he's conscientious, a hard worker. He fits with us.''
Said Wade, ''I just decided it was time to come play somewhere so here I am.''
...Defensive tackle Cornelius Griffin (knee) and end Phillip Daniels (back) both returned to practice and are expected to play Monday night. One reason Daniels returned after two weeks? Accupuncture. He underwent several sessions and was pleased.
...Still no word on corner Shawn Springs (abdomen) and running back Clinton Portis (shoulder). Neither practiced today.
