Blaylock injured his heel in the preseason game vs. Baltimore. He had backed up Ladell Betts all summer, with Clinton Portis sidelined. Because of Portis' knee, it's important that Washington be three-deep at this position.
Blaylock was a favorite of playcaller Al Saunders as well.
To replace Blaylock, the Redskins signed Dee Brown, whom they cut last week.
Brown is considered a three-dimensional back, able to handle multiple roles. But he wasn't good enough to bump others from the roster.
