Injury Update: OL Stephon Heyer (hamstring), C Casey Rabach (groin), OT Todd Wade (groin), LG Pete Kendall (hamstring), CB Shawn Springs (family matter) did not practice. LB Marcus Washington (hamstring) was limited, but did look good in the drills he performed. He could have done more, trainer Bubba Tyer said, but they opted to hold him out.
For Arizona, FS Aaron Francisco (knee), LB Karlos Dansby (knee), S Adrian Wilson (hamstring), WR Sean Morey (concussion) did not practice. T Levi Brown (ankle), QB Kurt Warner (left elbow), DE Joe Tafoya (hamstring) were limited. Though Warner has torn ligaments in his elbow, coach Ken Whisenhunt said there's still a chance he might play Sunday.
Locker Room Issue No. 1: Shawn Springs' family was told by doctors that there's no hope for his father, Ron, to survive. Ron Springs fell into a coma Saturday after undergoing surgery to remove a cyst from his arm. It's also uncertain about when Springs will return. "That's a real tough situation," Redskins coach Joe Gibbs said. "That's strictly up to him. It's so personal, such a hard deal that they're going through right now. We'll have to wait and see how the week goes. We're all praying for him."
Locker Room Issue No. 2: The health of the offensive line is another matter. At practice today, the only starters with pads on were left tackle Chris Samuels and right guard Jason Fabini. However, the Redskins expect Rabach, Wade and Kendall to all play. "It's not in my nature to let other people do my job," Rabach said. "I'll be a real miserable bastard if I'm not playing Sunday."
Kendall should return to practice tomorrow. Wade and Rabach might do limited work on Friday. But here's how odd it was: Lorenzo Alexander, a defensive lineman, will spend the immediate future working at left guard. He played there today and actually looked OK from the little we could watch. "That's probably the worst move we made, not keeping him at guard," OL coach Joe Bugel said, "because he is a tough little nut."
Santana Moss says: "If I sit back and dwell on it, then you're not going nowhere. I always look ahead. Last week, like I said after the game you see how I feel. The next day, I'm like, it was last week. And I had to deal with it like that. That's how I'll continue to deal with it. I know I've done plenty of other things than that and I've done a lot of good to let a few unhappy plays or crappy plays put me down."
