Injury report: Returner Rock Cartwright (quad) and offensive lineman Stephon Heyer (hamstring) did not practice, but center Casey Rabach (groin) and linebacker Marcus Washington (hamstring) did. Safety Pierson Prioleau (coaches decision/soreness), corner Carlos Rogers (knee) and corner Fred Smoot (hamstring) were limited.
For New England, quarterback Tom Brady (right shoulder) was limited. Five Pats did not practice -- linebacker Eric Alexander (knee), safety Mel Mitchell (groin), running back Sammy Morris (chest), tight end Ben Watson (ankle) and safety Eugene Wilson (ankle).
Locker room topic No. 1: The Redskins are 16-point underdogs, though word spread that they were 19-point dogs at one point. For the most part, the players weren't fazed by the point spread, mainly because it really doesn't matter to them. "I'm not worried about what people who gamble think about our team and our chances," said guard Pete Kendall. "It's so far removed from being a concern of mine." There was a hint of disdain in some voices for the large spread, considering the Redskins are 4-2. "It's an incentive," receiver Antwaan Randle El said. By the way, the last time Randle El remembered being such a large underdog was in college when his Hoosiers stunned host Wisconsin. "At Camp Randall," Randle El said. "It was Camp Randall El when I left."
Locker room topic No. 2: The Redskins' defenders weren't very available for interviews during the open locker-room session. Those that were seemed under orders not to say too much. Linebacker London Fletcher offered one and two-word answers; corner Fred Smoot ended his interview session a little more than a minute after it started. Apparently, they're tired of hearing about the New England offense. "What is there to talk about?" Smoot said. "We'll be there Sunday to play football."
Joe Gibbs, asked about New England not having beaten Washington since 1972, says: "How much money are you gonna put on that? That would be my answer to that one. There's nothing that's happened in the past that has anything to do with today. I don't think you'll be betting a lot of money on us."
