Rogers will undergo reconstructive surgery in two to three weeks to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He also tore the medial collateral ligament. Rogers hurt his knee in the first quarter of Sunday's 52-7 loss to New England. Redskins director of sports medicine Bubba Tyer said the goal is to have Rogers return in time for training camp.
Fred Smoot is expected to play Sunday and take Rogers' spot in the starting lineup. The Redskins also have Leigh Torrence and two corners on the practice squad in John Eubanks and Byron Westbrook.
