Taylor had showed encouraging signs after seven hours of surgery, responding to doctor's requests to squeeze his hand and to show facial expressions. But he died shortly before 6 a.m.
Taylor was shot in the leg early Monday morning, a little more than a week after his home had been broken into. Taylor had filed a police report after that incident, then returned to Washington where he continued rehabbing from a knee injury. He returned to Florida after doing more rehab this past Saturday.
There's no word yet on when the funeral will be held. The Redskins have not yet released any statement on his passing.
