...Center Casey Rabach does an excellent job in the one-on-one blocking session. Has a great base, sets his feet well and rarely seems to get beat. His hands are tight and his feet are wide.
...Ryan Boschetti did a nice job driving Justin Geisinger back. Geisinger was supposed to be a player to watch entering camp, but haven't seen much yet.
...Receiver Antwaan Randle El wants to make the defense better, which in turn helps the offense. So after beating rookie Justin Tryon on a long pass – he had barely a step on him – he chided Tryon for not finishing the play. He told Tryon that he could have still tackled him or at the very least tried to swipe the ball. That's how a rookie like Tryon will get better, with good tips from a vet. And Tryon seems to want to listen.
...The rookies have impressed the older players; they like the collective toughness of the group, especially the guys on defense. Tryon has drawn the most praise, but safety Chris Horton also is getting some notice because of his willingness to stick his nose everywhere.
...Jason Taylor provided a reminder today of what he can do when, on a stunt, he quickly got to the quarterback. Said it last week but it bears repeating: he doesn't waste a step.
...Randy Thomas got up slowly after one play and grabbed the back of his right hamstring . He missed a couple plays then went back in. When asked later what happened, he said, "Veteran move." In other words, it got him a couple plays off. But, in reality, something did happen. He just fought through it; no biggie.
...Todd Collins took snaps with the first unit, just to give him time with them in case something happens. But I'll say this: There was a major difference in his play once he was paired with the top talent. Threw a nice deep out to Santana Moss.
...Carlos Rogers broke up two plays in a row, the first to Maurice Mann and the second to Fred Davis. Still too early to tell when he'll actually play in a game, but the kid has done a nice job fighting back.
...Safety Kareem Moore, who has missed much of camp with a knee injury, had a nice shoulder pop on Mike Sellers today. Knocked him to the ground.
