...Jason Taylor was able to go a little faster today, wearing a brace during practice. Still won't know his status until game time.
...Shawn Springs has a bruised calf; X-rays were negative, but he did leave Redskins Park with a slight limp.
...Marcus Washington was practicing a little sack dance before the drills started this morning. Looked like he was a magician waving his hand over his hat and then pulling something out.
...Jon Jansen worked with the scout team at left guard, as well as in full-team drills. Here's the best case scenario for him: show he can play guard as well, making himself more valuable to another team next year. Because he will be somewhere next year. Jansen does not look comfortable at guard, but that's to be expected. He does look better than Todd Wade did. Much better. And in time Jansen could make the transition.
...Randy Thomas wanted to know which unnamed scout told the Washington Post that his and Jansen's play had slipped. Of course he wasn't told, but he did say he was going to use that as motivation. One thing that has been noticeable is that Thomas has not pulled that much this preseason. Last year, his pulling was going to be a staple in the offense until he got hurt.
...Jim Zorn is soooo much different than Joe Gibbs when it comes to demeanor. You'd never know Zorn is two days away from the first time he'll be a head coach in a regular-season game. With Gibbs, you always knew when the game was. And by two days before the game Gibbs had puckered up big time and the tension was visible. Not so with Zorn.
...Demetric Evans would start if Taylor can't play. It's a good thing Evans bulked up by 10 pounds; he's now the run-stopping end at 280 pounds. Evans has had a solid camp. He won't make a lot of plays, but he'll do his job. He'll also be better at being able to read what's going on at left end better than the starters. It's a little thing, but it does take time.
