…Right tackle Jon Jansen was limited today, but the fact that he was even on the field with his helmet on spoke volumes about how much he wants to play. It would be easy for him to rule himself out now. But it's still at best a game-time decision on his status. At one point during a field goal drill the entire unit dashed onto the field from the sideline, simulating a last-second kick. Jansen, though, stayed on the field waiting for them so he wouldn't have to run.
…DT Kedric Golston was limited. Chris Horton did not practice. Cornelius Griffin did not practice. Todd Yoder was limited. Shawn Springs did not practice.
…LB Marcus Washington is hoping he can return for the Eagles game. It would be nice; it very well could be his last home game with the Redskins.
…Jim Zorn was back to praising TE Fred Davis today and reiterated that his inactive status stemmed as much from his special teams play as anything. We're not buying it; Zorn said a few weeks back that he couldn't trust him to run routes when called upon.
…Don't look for Zorn to change his ways – and he's not concerned whether or not he "has" the locker room. He knows winning takes care of that.
…Portis Gate was barely a topic today, at least during group interviews. More talk was focused on beating the Bengals and how badly they need a win.
…The Redskins pushed up practice today because of the rain; but they still got soaked because the rain never stopped
…Don't be surprised if the Redskins use more straight-ahead blocking schemes Sunday, with two tackles who don't run as well as the guys they're replacing. That makes a difference on the cutback runs and stretch plays. A big difference. It's one reason why those plays did not work with Stephon Heyer at RT. The tackles need to get to the linebackers to make those plays work. He did not.
