...The Great Albert Haynesworth injury story is over. After missing two straight practices, Haynesworth returned and looked fine. But this will bear watching.
…Mike Williams (groin), Carlos Rogers (calf), Randy Thomas (knee), Devin Thomas (knee), J.D. Skolnitsky (hamstring), Casey Rabach (calf) all missed practice today.
…Stephon Heyer bruised his knee in the morning session, in a collision during a goal-line play. He underwent an MRI and is day to day.
…Roydell Williams will miss four to six weeks with a broken finger, after having surgery. It's too bad; Williams was among a couple guys with a legitimate shot at the No. 5 job. He's had a tough road the past two years, with his broken ankle and now this.
…You'll hear a lot about the offensive line in coming days and its problems. Here's our take: the Redskins messed up in the offseason by not adequately addressing their backup situation. Seriously, Mike Williams? As a guy who could come in and start? After watching almost a week of camp, it's hard to get excited about any of their backup tackles or guards. The centers look fine (Will Montgomery and Edwin Williams), but everything else is a big question mark.
…Jeremy Bridges did pick up the blitz twice today in full-team work, going against the No. 1 defense. Another time, however, he stumbled to his left as20he lunged to block a defender near the goal-line.
…My problem with the tackles not named Chris Samuels? Their inability to get to the linebackers consistently. That was on view today. Heyer, before getting hurt, missed a couple blocks in space and failed to get the ‘backer.
…LB Darrell Young made one nice play in which he got past Heyer to help blow up a screen.
…Kareem Moore had a nice hit on rookie receiver Marko Mitchell. A real nice hit.
…Robert Henson had a good pop of Marcus Mason. He later got burned on a pass to the back because he got picked by the tight end. Henson is an interesting prospect.
…Both Montgomery and Williams had good days today. Williams is very technically sound and has a good lower base.
…Jason Campbell is on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week. The last Redskin to do so? Stephen Davis in 2001. There isn't any thing revealing in the article, just a rehash of the same old Redskins-wanted-other-QBs-story.
…The quarterbacks spent part of the morning throwing at a net with three targets. Colt Brennan and Todd Collins both hit the target four of seven times compared to two of seven for Chase Daniel and Campbell.
…The Redskins cut Vaka Manupuna. Again. Guess we'll see him next year about this time.
…Chad Rinehart looked better today. Not great, but better. He played with better leverage in one-on-one work. But Phillip Da niels went right through him once on the 11-on-11 work.
…Trent Shelton made a nice grab down the right seam, catching a Collins pass.
…Campbell did have a couple nice throws, including one well-placed out, in full-team work.
…Antwaan Randle El tried to throw a pass off an end around, but he had to end up throwing it away. No one was fooled.
…We repeat: Reed Doughty is a different guy this camp. His back is healthy and it shows.
