Asper saves man's life

Los Angeles -- Oregon offensive lineman Mark Asper apparently saved a man's life tonight at Lowery's Steak House by performing the Heimlich Maneuver to dislodge a piece of steak from the gentleman's throat.

According to Adam Jude of The Eugene Register-Guard in a Twitter message, Mark Asper interceded in an emergency when a waiter at the steak house was unable help a man who was choking on a piece of meat.

Asper, who was an Eagle Scout while growing up in Idaho used the Heimlich Maneuver to clear the choking man's airway.

Asper along with his Oregon teammates were at the steak house as part of the 98th annual Rose Bowl, which will be played on January 2, 2012 in Pasadena.
